Kinship Care PhotoThe Kinship Caregiving Program focuses on supporting relatives and friends who have taken on the parenting role. Are you a grandparent or relative raising a child? We’re here to help.

Information & Assistance
Caregivers are provided with information and linked with community supports. Our website also offers a lengthy list of resources and great information sheets on the fact sheet pages.

Support Services
Several types of support services are in place to help kinship families address their unique challenges. These include professionally facilitated support groups, telephone coaching and counseling by staff, and adult peer-to-peer kinship mentoring.

Support Groups
Professionally facilitated support groups that provide encouragement, educational information and emotional support for Caregivers are available in Albany, Rensselaer and Schenectady Counties.

Educational opportunities
From one-time workshops to twelve week courses and everything in-between, The Kinship Caregiving Program is providing kinship families with quality meaningful learning experiences specially tailored for kinship families.

Empowerment
Beyond support services and educational opportunities the Kinship Caregiving program is dedicated to the principle that self advocacy is the greatest strength available to families. Staff work tirelessly to help families learn to advocate for themselves, and provides resources and linkages to other community supports outside of those offered within this program.
